OverviewThe MediWaxx Paraffin Sock is a single-use, disposable, clear plastic sock that holds in heat and moisture during paraffin services for hands and feet. A zip-lock seal near the toe-knuckle area closes the sock to prevent leaks, and the clear body lets you watch the paraffin as it works.
Use with: MediWaxx Paraffin Wax by Weight, melted in a paraffin bath or warmer.
Intended use: professional nail, spa and esthetic services, by trained technicians.
Safety and contraindications
Check the wax temperature before every service. Paraffin for hand and foot therapy is typically used at 125–130°F (52–54°C).
Do not use on clients who have:
• Open cuts, wounds, rashes, blisters or skin infections (including fungal infections) on the area
• Reduced sensation in hands or feet, including from diabetes or neuropathy, unless cleared by a physician
• Poor circulation, vascular disease or swelling
• Recent burns or sunburn on the area
Always:
• Test the wax on your inner wrist, then on a small area of the client's skin
• Keep the sock away from direct heat sources; never put it in a microwave, oven or warmer
• Do not leave the client unattended while the sock is on
• Stop immediately if the client reports burning, tingling or discomfort
Preparation
1. Melt MediWaxx Paraffin Wax in a paraffin bath until fully liquid, then let it settle to working temperature.
2. Take a new, unused sock for each hand or foot. Never reuse a sock between clients or sessions.
3. Check the sock for tears, holes or a damaged seal; discard it and take another if any are found.
4. Have the client remove jewelry from the hands or feet going into the paraffin.
5. Wash and dry the client's hands or feet, then sanitize them. Paraffin should never go onto wet skin.
6. Optional: apply lotion, oil or the MediWaxx Flame-Safe Lotion Candle to the skin first for extra moisture.
How to use
1. Have the client dip the hand or foot into the paraffin, just past the wrist or ankle, and lift it out. Fingers or toes should be relaxed and slightly apart.
2. Let the wax set for a few seconds until it turns dull, then dip again. Repeat 5–7 times to build an even coat.
3. Open the zip-lock seal and slide the coated hand or foot into the Paraffin Sock.
4. Press the seal closed along its full length.
5. Wrap the sock in a towel or insulated mitt or bootie to hold in heat.
6. Leave on for 15–20 minutes. Check in with the client during this time.
7. Open the seal, slide the sock off, and peel the wax away from the wrist or ankle toward the fingers or toes.
8. Massage any remaining moisture into the skin.
One sock per hand or foot.
After use and disposal
The Paraffin Sock is single-use. Throw it away after each use, together with the used paraffin.
1. Put the used sock and peeled wax into a lined trash bin; never return used paraffin to the bath.
2. Do not wash, disinfect or reuse the sock.
3. Wipe down the work surface and wash your hands.
4. Store unused socks in their original packaging in a clean, dry place, away from heat and direct sunlight.
Keep unused socks sealed until use so they stay clean.
